Terms of Service

The rules for using Apera, the Discord bot, and its websites.

Last updated: October 5, 2026

01Agreeing to these terms

These terms apply to the Apera Discord bot and its websites (apera.site, docs.apera.site and the transcript pages), together called “Apera”, run by the Apera team (“we”, “us”). By adding Apera to a server, using its commands, or signing in to the dashboard, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use Apera.

02Who can use Apera

  • You must be allowed to use Discord: at least 13, or older where your country requires it, and follow Discord’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
  • You may only add Apera to a server, or change its settings, if you are allowed to manage that server.
  • If you use Apera for a group or organisation, you confirm you can accept these terms for it.

03The service

Apera gives Discord servers protection (anti-nuke, anti-raid, anti-spam), moderation, logs, tickets, backups, welcome messages and images, self roles, giveaways, temporary voice channels, stream alerts, custom commands and a web dashboard, plus documentation and an assistant. Apera is currently free and in public beta: features are added, changed and sometimes removed, and some (marked “beta”, such as Vanity Guard) may not work in every case. If we ever add paid features, we will say so clearly before anything costs money, and these terms will be updated first.

04Your responsibilities as a server admin

  • You decide what Apera does in your server. Protection can kick, ban, time out or remove roles from members, including staff, based on the limits you set. Check your settings, your whitelist and your trusted admins, and keep Apera’s role where it needs to be.
  • Tell your members. If you turn on features that record them, such as message logging or ticket transcripts, make sure your community knows, for example in your rules.
  • Content you configure is yours. You are responsible for the messages, images, embeds and custom commands you set Apera to post, and they must follow Discord’s rules and the law.
  • Keep access safe. Anyone with “Manage Server” can change Apera’s settings in the dashboard; give that permission carefully.

05Acceptable use

You must not use Apera to:

  • harass, threaten, dox, or spam people, or post illegal, hateful or sexual content involving minors;
  • break Discord’s Terms of Service or Community Guidelines, or help others avoid Discord’s enforcement;
  • attack, raid, nuke or take over servers or accounts, or collect members’ data for anything other than running your own server;
  • overload, reverse-engineer, scrape or break into Apera, its dashboard or our servers, or get around rate limits, permissions or other protections;
  • pretend to be Apera, the Apera team or someone else.

Please report security problems to us privately instead of exploiting them.

06Suspension and blacklisting

We may limit, suspend or blacklist a server or user from Apera, or remove Apera from a server, if these terms are broken, if Discord requires it, or to protect people or the service. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why. If you think we made a mistake, appeal in the support server. You can stop using Apera at any time by removing it from your server.

07Your content and ours

Your content stays yours. Settings, messages, images and other content you or your server give Apera remain yours. You give us permission to store, process and display it only as needed to run Apera for you.

Apera is ours. The Apera name, logo, bot, dashboard, website and documentation belong to us. You may mention Apera and link to it, but not use the name or logo in a way that suggests we made or endorse something we didn’t.

Feedback: if you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely to improve Apera.

08The docs assistant

The assistant on apera.site and docs.apera.site answers from Apera’s documentation and, when turned on, with help from AI. Its answers can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Always check the linked docs page before changing important settings, and don’t type passwords, tokens or other secrets into it.

09Discord and other services

Apera depends on Discord and on other services (for example YouTube, Twitch, Kick and TikTok for stream alerts). We don’t control them. If they change, limit or stop their service, parts of Apera may stop working. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms.

10No guarantees

Apera is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. In particular, we do not guarantee that Apera will:

  • stop every raid, nuke, spam wave or attack, or catch it in time;
  • restore everything after an attack; Discord does not let bots restore some things, such as deleted messages;
  • always be online, fast, or free of bugs, or keep every message, log or backup.

Keep your own copies of anything important, and keep your server’s security settings sensible.

11Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, members, revenue or reputation, arising from your use of Apera, from actions Apera takes based on your settings, or from things other people do in your server. Because Apera is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it, which today is zero. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

12Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Apera changes. We will update the date at the top, and announce important changes in the support server before they take effect. If you keep using Apera after a change, you accept the new terms.

13Contact

Questions, appeals, data requests or security reports: the support server is the place. If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
